S.A.F.E. Summer Program 2013 dates
Since it's the 2nd day of Spring, it's time to announce our Free Summer Program for 2013!
The S.A.F.E. Summer Program has been operating under the Mark Kilroy Foundation since 1995. It is a free program for children grades 1-12 (must have already passed first grade) in the Santa Fe and Hitchcock school districts. Our main sponsors are: Mark Kilroy Foundation, the City of Santa Fe, Santa Fe I.S.D., and Hitchcock I.S.D.
Our Safe Communities Coalition is also heavily involved and is comprised of community business leaders, parents, teachers, law officers, school board members, and area counselors. This program is prepared and facilitated by counselors from the S.A.F.E. Program. It is for the people of this area and we are happy to announce that much of the funding comes from contributions to the Mark Kilroy Foundation's Annual Dinner, a fundraiser in which the people of this area support and attend due to the concern for their own children's welfare! Every community should be so lucky and blessed.
Santa Fe I.S.D. S.A.F.E. Summer Program will be held from June 10-28th at Runge Park for Santa Fe I.S.D. students.
Hitchcock I.S.D. S.A.F.E. Summer Program will be held from July 8-19th at Hitchcock High School for Hitchcock I.S.D. students.
During these dates, Monday-Thursdays are reserved for 1-5th graders (your child must have completed 1st grade) from 9:00-11:30 AM.
Fridays are reserved for teen fieldtrips. They are for our youth who have completed the 6th grade through the 12th grade.
We are currently working out the details of this program and will update this blog in May, at which time we will send copies of S.A.F.E. Summer enrollment forms to every school involved in these two districts. (Your child must attend one of these school districts to apply and the enrollment forms must be mailed or delivered to The Mark Kilroy Foundation at 12026 16th Street as soon as the forms are out). This is a first come, first serve program and the enrollment is limited to the first sixty students who apply. Our main goal is for the children to have some fun summer fun!
Please check out a couple of our S.A.F.E. Summer Videos below!

If You are Thinking of Trying Bath Salts (no, not the kind you put in your bath)...Think Again
Information about "bath salts" and other dangerous synthetic drugs at Narconon.Com.

The S.A.F.E. Program gives away shirts and bugs at the Child Safety Fair in Santa Fe on October 6th!
The Santa Fe Parks and Recreation Board sponsored an annual Child Safety Fair on October 6th at Tambrella Park in Santa Fe, Texas. Santa Fe Police Department, Santa Fe Fire and Rescue, the Mark Kilroy Foundation S.A.F.E. Program, Galveston County Health District, and many other local organizations had booths with prizes, games, and literature for the children and adults that attended. Drinks, hot dogs, popcorn, balloons, and prizes (over 30 bicycles and bicycle safety equipment) were given away from 10-1 PM! The S.A.F.E. Program gave away shirts from their summer program as well as a "jar of bugs". The kids had to guess how many and the prize went to the first to guess correctly.
